The High Line in New York City is an elevated structure built for freight railroad access to warehouses on Manhattan's west side.
It was converted into a park, first opening in 2009, and has become one of the city's
top attractions.
The structure is narrow and the pedestrian path is very narrow, limiting its options and making it unsuitable for recreation.
The Pierce Elevated is much wider, typically around 100 feet wide. This width provides great flexibility in its use and design, and
makes it ideal as a recreation park.
